Effective Date: April 24, 2025

Audibly, a free speech-to-text mobile application developed by Corcept Digitals, processes data locally on the device, requires no login or registration, contains no ads, and has no backend monitoring. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when using the mobile application (“App”). Using Audibly constitutes agreement to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

  1. No Collection of Personal Data

Audibly does not collect, store, or access any personal data, including audio recordings, text transcripts, or usage data. All processing occurs locally on the device, with no monitoring or access to data. Specifically:

  • Audio Data: Audio recordings are processed in real-time on the device to generate text transcripts. No audio data is stored, transmitted, or accessed.
  • Text Transcripts: Transcripts are generated and stored temporarily on the device for editing, copying, or sharing within the App. These are not sent or accessed.
  • Usage Data: No data about App usage, such as feature usage or session duration, is collected.
  • Device Information: No information about the device, such as OS version, device model, or IP address, is collected.

Since Audibly operates without a backend, no data is sent to or stored on servers.

  1. How Information Is Used

Since no data is collected or accessed, no information is used for any purpose. The App’s functionality, such as converting speech to text and enabling features like undo, redo, and copy, is handled entirely on the device.

  1. Data Storage and Retention

All data processing occurs locally on the device:

  • Audio Data: Audio is processed in real-time and not stored after transcription.
  • Text Transcripts: Transcripts are stored temporarily on the device and are deleted when cleared via the App or when the App is uninstalled.
  • Retention: No data is retained, as no information is collected or stored.
  1. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Since no data is collected or stored, no personal information is shared or disclosed with third parties. Audibly is ad-free and does not involve data sharing with advertisers or other entities. However, the following may apply:

  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority, it would be clarified that no personal data is held.
  • Business Transfers: In the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, no personal data would be transferred, as none is collected.
  1. Third-Party Services

Audibly uses third-party services for core functionality, which process data locally or under their own privacy policies. These services include:

  • Android SpeechRecognizer API: Used for speech-to-text conversion, provided by Google. This API processes audio locally on the device in most cases, but Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) should be reviewed for details.
  • LanguageTool: Used for grammar checking, which may process text data. LanguageTool’s Privacy Policy (https://languagetool.org/legal/privacy) should be reviewed for more information.

No responsibility is taken for the privacy practices of these third-party services. Reviewing their policies is recommended to understand how data is handled.

  1. Data Security

Since Audibly processes all data locally and does not transmit or store data on servers, no additional security measures are required. Data security is managed by the device’s operating system and the third-party services mentioned above.

  1. Rights and Choices

As no personal data is collected or stored, there is no personal information to access, correct, or delete. Data on the device can be managed by:

  • Clearing Transcripts: Use the App’s clear function to delete temporary transcripts.
  • Uninstalling the App: Removes all locally stored data associated with Audibly.

8. International Data Transfers

As no data is collected or transmitted by Audibly, there are no international data transfers. Any data processing by third-party services (e.g., Android SpeechRecognizer) is subject to their privacy policies.

    9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect changes in practices or legal requirements. Notification of material changes will be provided by posting the updated policy in the App. The updated policy will take effect on the date specified at the top of this document.
